The Task record inherits values from the catalog item's variable values.\n\n## Roles and availability\n\nAvailable as a Workflow Studio ServiceNow core action. Users with the flow\\_designer or admin role can add an action to a flow and define configuration details.\n\n## Inputs\n\nProvide a value for each input that your action needs. To add dynamic values, you can also drag and drop pills from the Data panel or select them from the pill picker.\n\n|Input|Data type|Description|\n|-----|---------|-----------|\n|Catalog Item|Record|Reference to catalog item used to create a Task record.|\n|Catalog Item Inputs|String|Catalog variables associated with the catalog item you choose. You can view associated catalog variables for Catalog Items from **Service Catalog** &gt; **Catalog Definitions** &gt; **Record Producers**.|\n|Don't fail on error|True/False|Catalog variable indicating whether to fail on error.|\n\n## Outputs\n\nThese outputs appear in the Data panel. When this logic exists, the Record Producer action aborts inserting the record into the table.|\n\n## Design considerations\n\nFollow these design considerations when creating flows that contain Record Producer actions.\n\n-   **Escape quotation marks from string data pills with the String Replace transform function**\n\n    Complex string variables are converted into JSON format when stored in the system. To prevent any JSON formatting errors, you can use a Replace String transform function to escape the quotation marks present in any string data pills you use for catalog variables.
