Spline reports show how one or more values change over time by connecting a series of known data points with a curve that emphasizes the trend over individual data points.\n\nFor example, you can create an area or spline reports for incident counts, to show how the number of incidents changes over time. The incident count often increases during the first few months after a product upgrade is deployed. Over time, the number of reported incidents decreases as users become more accustomed to the changes in the product.\n\n**Note:** On instances with Unified Analytics enabled, and on new Australia instances, both Core UI reports and Platform Analytics experience data visualizations are found in the Platform Analytics library. Navigate to **All** > **Platform Analytics** > **Library** > **Data Visualizations**. For more information, see [Exploring the Data Visualizations library](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/now-intelligence/explore-data-vis-library.md).\n\n\\[Omitted image \"AreaChart.png\"\\] Alt text: Area reports\n\n**Note:**\n\nWhen the sections of an area report with multiple datasets overlap, it is not possible to drill down into the various sections. To drill down, click items in the legend to clear them from the report.\n\n\\[Omitted image \"SplineChart.png\"\\] Alt text: Spline report\n\n**Note:** This data visualization is supported on the mobile platform. For more information, see [Time series reports for mobile](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/mobile/mobile-reporting-time-series.md) and [Mobile dashboard preview](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/mobile/mobile-dashboard-preview.md).\n\n## Create an area or spline report\n\nCreate an area or spline report to show trends over time for related attributes.\n\n### Before you begin\n\nRole required: itil, report\\_user, report\\_group, report\\_global, report\\_admin, or admin. To create a meaningful report, you must have the right to access the data you want to report on.\n\nFor an area report use case, [Time series data visualization example](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/now-intelligence/dv-example-line.md).\n\nOn instances that are upgraded to Australia, Core UI report features are maintained, but are not updated. For best results, use Platform Analytics experience data visualizations. For more information, see [Exploring the Data Visualizations library](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/now-intelligence/explore-data-vis-library.md).\n\n### Procedure\n\n1.
