This action causes a response task to be created for the first activity in the workflow.\n\n\\[Omitted image \"policy-violation-wf-template.png\"\\] Alt text: Policy Violation Template\n\n## Procedure\n\n1.  Open the security incident for the policy violation, or [create a new security incident](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/security-management/security-incident-response/t_ManuallyCreateSecurityIncident.md).\n\n2.  In **Category**, select **Policy violation**.\n\n3.  Save the record.\n\n4.  Scroll down and open the **Response Tasks** related list.\n\n    The first of a series of response tasks appears. Update the **State** field in the task after you have completed it.\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe **Advise violator of infraction** response task is executed.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nAdvise violator of infraction\n\n</td><td>\n\nCommunicate the nature of the infraction to the violator. Update the **State** field in the task after you have communicated it.\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe **Obtain acknowledgement from violator** response task is executed.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nObtain acknowledgement from violator\n\n</td><td>\n\nObtain an acknowledgement from the violator of the infraction. Update the **State** field in the task as appropriate.\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe **HR process** response task is executed.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nHR process\n\n</td><td>\n\nCommunicate all necessary information about this violation to HR. Update the **State** field in the task as appropriate.\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe **Set state to review** response task is executed.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nSet state to review\n\n</td><td>\n\nNo action is necessary.\n\n</td><td>\n\nThe **State** of the security incident is changed automatically to **Review**.\n\n</td></tr><tr><td>\n\nSchedule security awareness training\n\n</td><td>\n\nConduct a security awareness training to educate staff on how to prevent similar security violations in the future.
